Privacy: Aedificare

Two things here touch YouTube, and this page says what each does.


1. The films on this site

Each edition's page carries its film, played through YouTube's embedded
player in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The player is
loaded only when a reader presses the film's poster; before that press the
page asks nothing of YouTube or of any other host, and every build of the
site is checked for that. From the press on, the player is YouTube's: it
runs under YouTube's terms (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms) and Google's
privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy), it may store what
YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode stores, and it may show YouTube's ads.
This site uses YouTube API Services to show that player. Aedificare
receives nothing from the player and keeps no record of who pressed it or
what they watched.

Each film also has its own page, at the edition's address followed by
/film, which exists to show the film with its chapters and transcript.
There the same player loads as the page opens, without a press, and from
that moment the same terms and policy apply to it.


2. The Aedificare uploader

The Aedificare uploader is a private tool that puts Aedificare's own films
on Aedificare's own YouTube channel (@aedificare_art). It is used by the
channel's owner and no one else.

What it accesses: the channel owner's YouTube account, through Google
OAuth, with these permissions: upload videos, manage their titles,
descriptions, captions, thumbnails and playlists, and read the channel's
videos and analytics. It acts on that one channel only.

What it stores: one OAuth refresh token, kept as an encrypted secret in
the channel owner's GitHub repository, and the IDs of the videos it
uploaded, filed beside the films in the same repository. It stores no
data about viewers or any other person, sells nothing, shares nothing,
and shows no ads.

Removing access: the owner can revoke it at any time at
https://myaccount.google.com/permissions; YouTube's own terms apply to
the channel (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), and Google's privacy policy
to the account (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
